On 19th August, Srila Prabhupada’s Vyasa Puja, Mr LK Advani who has served as the Deputy Prime Minister, Home (Internal) Minister and Leader of Opposition party in the Parliament visited ISKCON Delhi. Below is the transcript of his speech:
I was told that even though today is not Janmastami, yet for this temple it is a very important day, as today is birthday of ISKCON’s Founder Prabhupada ji. Therefore, I’ve come here today.
I have had the darshan of all you devotees of Krishna and through you, all the devotees worldwide.
I believe that me and my family, who are being represented here by my daughter Pratibha, are very fortunate to have the darshan of Swami Prabhupada and offer our respect on to his feet on this day of Janmastami. We also offer our respects on to the feet of all the devotees present here.
I consider myself fortunate and believe that Krishna’s message would reach every house in the world and by Krishna’s message I mean Bhagavad Gita’s message.
Some time ago, a movie producer visited me in my house, he producing a movie on the universal form of Lord Krishna which he had showed Arjuna. So when he came to my house, I showed him a Deity of Krishna which was gifted to me by an artist in Karnataka.
This deity was unique as it not only showed the universal form, but also Vyasadeva dictating to Ganesh, Dushasan trying to disrobe Draupadi, Bhismadeva resting on a bed of arrows instructing the Pandavas and also Dasavatar. All these pastimes are shown in one scene. I remembered these little incidents.
As I stand here before Prabhupada, I would like to share that I wholeheartedly thank the managers of this temple who kindly gave me such a beautiful and auspicious occasion to visit. I consider myself and my family to be very fortunate.
