VYASA-PUJA OF SRILA BHAKTI ABHAY NARAYAN MAHARAJA
by Swami B.A. Harijan
Hungarian Devotees Celebrate 50th Vyasa Puja of Srila Bhakti Abhay Narayan Maharaj
On April 4th, the 50th Vyasa Puja of Srila Bhakti Abhay Narayan Maharaj was celebrated at Nandafalva (Nandagram), the Vaishnava community lying in the rural Hungarian farmland.  As the Hungarian disciple of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad, Srila Bhakti Abhay Narayan Maharaj (1954-1993) preached in the Eastern European countries behind the Iron Curtain from the mid 1970's.

120 devotees, including both disciples and grand-disciples congregated on the occasion to honorably celebrate and glorify their beloved guru. Three of Srila Bhakti Abhay Narayan Maharaj's godbrothers offered written remembrances for the event: Srila Bhakti Alok Paramadvaiti Maharaj, Srila Bhakti Gaurava Narasingha Maharaj and Srila Bhakti Bhavana Visnu Maharaj.

The devotees embarked on a 1.5 kilometer singing parikrama to the samadhi mandir and bhajan kutir of their spiritual master located in the neighboring farmstead where they performed guru puja and puspanjali.

The program continued inside the temple. After reading the letters from his three godbrothers, several of his disciples offered their remembrances.  First to speak was the senior disciple, Sripad Krsnananda Acarya Prabhu who read the letter written by Srila Bhakti Abhay Narayan Maharaj to the Hungarian devotees in 1977 on his last visit to Srila Prabhupad in London, in which the master's maturity and intimate, affectionate care and enthusiasm are revealed. Next, Sripad Bhakti Kamala Tirtha Maharaj, Nanda Kumar Prabhu, Bhakti Abhay Kesava Maharaj, Lilananda Prabhu, Govindanandana Prabhu, Madhavi Devi Dasi, Bhakti Abhay Harijan Maharaj and Abhay Caran Prabhu also spoke about the importance of accepting and glorifiying one's guru.
