HOLY PLACES: TER KADAMBA
by the WVA Vrindavan Dham Preservation Committee |
Hereby we inform
the devotional community that Hrishikesh Maharaja is
the new sevaite of Ter Kadamba, the holy bhajan
kutir of Srila Rupa Goswami. Hrsikesh Maharaja had been
an ascetic devotee for many years, and is a disciple of
Srila Bhakti Saranga Goswami Maharaja. The holy place of
Ter Kadamba was previously taken care of by one babaji.
This babaji left this world a short while ago and the service
of the holy place of Ter Kadamba had a gap. Fortunately
Sripad Hrsikesh Maharaja felt the inspiration to take up
this divine service.
For those who have not gone to Ter
Kadamba, it is situated in Nanda-gram. You have to go in
a little road at Krishna Kunda, but it is best if somebody
takes you or ask direction from the local people. Next
to Ter Kadamba is a very nice lake were Srila Rupa Goswmai
used to take his bath. This is the place where he received
his guru Sanatan Goswami and served milk rice to him, which
he had prepared from the ingredients by a young girl. When
Sanatan Goswami tasted the milk rice he inquired where
Rupa Goswami got such special ingredients. He told him
about the girl, but upon further inquiry about the origin
of the girl he had to admit that he did not see her before,
nor did anybody in the area knew something about her. Srila
Sanatan Goswami realised it must have been Srimati Radharani,
and even though he liked sweet rice very much he was very
upset. He told Rupa Goswami: "all day we are praying
to be able to serve Srimati Radharani and her sweet service
plan and look what you have done. Instead of serving her
we have taken her service." |
|
| This
is the divine nature of Krishna, Radharani and the devotees.
Each want to serve the other, none want to accept any
service. Ter Kadamba is a unique place, a very intensive
place for doing bhajan. Very closed to this place is
an old shiva temple and a big pond. Having a Gaudiya
Vaishnava sannyasi at this place who is very humble and
kind, is a great treasure for all the pilgrims. Hrsikesh
Maharaja does not speak very much english but has extensive
knowledge of the shastras. You are all very much invited
to take darshan. |
