BANKE BIHARI & DHAM GHATI TEMPLE UNDER RECEIVERSHIP
by WVA Vrindavan Dham Preservation Committee
The government of India has recently placed two major temples in Vraja Mandala under receivership. Due to regular disputes and court cases surrounding donations coming into the Bankebihari Temple in Vrindavan and the Dham-ghati temple in Govardhan, the government has appointed well-known journalist Vinit Narayan to act as a receiver of these two temples. This situation admonishes pujaris and managers of spiritual institutions to carefully abide by the instructions of their founding fathers lest they witness how the sacred property of the founding acaryas, created for the enlightenment of all, may become misused for selfish interests resulting in government intervention to protect the donations for an uplifting purpose in accordance with divine traditions. Honesty and transparency should characterize any spiritual institution, especially if it invites donations from the public and from devotees or from its own members performing devotional service.  In this  age of Kali, people frequently practice irreligious things in the name of religion. It is the duty of all ashrams to remain above such suspicion. Otherwise instead of spreading religiosity they are discouraging religiosity through improper practices.
