VRAJA RAKSHAK DAL
by Raghav Mittal
Inspiration: Sri Maan Bihari Laal, Maan Mandir, Barsana
Founder: Sri Ramesh Baba, Maan Mandir, Barsana

A voluntary organisation of Vrajavasis and Krishna devotees for the conservation, preservation and all-round development of the environment and the culture of Vraja, the Lilastahli of Lord Krishna

Why Vraja Rakshak Dal?

Not only from India but from all over the world devotees of Sri Radha and Krishna come to Vraja to have the darshan of Their Divine Lilasthalis and to pay obeisances. The devotees are greeted by
Girirajji, Yamuna Devi, the Divine Couple of Sri Radha Krishna in numerous temples and the divine bhajansthalis of Sri Nimbarkacharyaji Vallabhacharyaji, Sri Hitharivanshji, Sri Haridasji, Meera, Surdas, Raskhan and various other great saints. The most important places of Vraja are the numerous kundas, sarovaras, and vanasthalis, dating back to the time of Lord Krishna Himself.

But all these places are being attacked. They are being ruthlessly destroyed. This immense destruction has to
be stopped by some iron hand or else the future generation would find the glory and splendor of Vraja only in books. By then the Vraja Dham would have been converted into a dreaded forest of concete and cement. What then would the Krishna devotees do, except feeling remorse and regret.

Only the last 20 years have rendered a great damage to Vraja. This rate of destruction is not going to stop on its own. Criticism or remorse alone would not suffice and can't serve the cause of Vraja. The destruction of Vraja has to be stopped with full force; by the application of mind, body, money, time, resources and power. The original face of Vraja has to be restored. Along with this, opportunities of employment have to be generated in the rural areas of Vraja. For the economic development of Vraja, we need an organised and efficient tourism system rather than polluting industries. Several nations of the world are dependent on tourism even when they have very little to offer as compared to Vraja.

Vraja is considered to be directly linked to the Goloka, separate from this universe. The means of development have to be unique for Vraja. If we develop Vraja on the foundation of devotion, giving due consideration to the comfort and ease of the tourists, there is a lot of scope for the economic development of Vraja. We Vrajavasis and the devotees of Radha-Krishna are committed to do this work selflessly. We have firm faith that for the pleasure of Srimati Radharani and with the blessings of all our saints, we would be able to do this pious work.

Vraja Rakshak Dal has been constituted for this purpose only. It is working as a voluntary and a non political organisation.

OBJECTIVES

1. Conservation and restoration of the environment, sarovaras, forests and hills of Vraja.
2. Reconstruction and beautification of the various Lilasthalis.
3. Arrangement for the facilities and comfort of pilgrims in the whole of Vraja.
4. To serve Vraja with the cooperation of all religious and voluntary organisations, government machinery and influential devotees. For this purpose, to obtain the guidance and blessings of the saints of Vraja and elsewhere.
5. To eradicate all the social evils corrupting Vraja and to strengthen the stream of spirituality in Vraja again.
6. To generate new avenues of employment for the Youth of Vraja.
7. To achieve economic upliftment of rural areas of Vraja.

To achieve the above mentioned objectives this organisation will continue to work as a catalyst. It is our desire to inform and guide all the devotees who are anxious to work for the development of Vraja, to work in a collective fashion and bring new avenues in Vraja.

Vraja Rakshak Dal would refrain from material collection and all the Vrajavasis associated with the organistion will also work with a voluntary spirit and selflessness. All the work would be done with an attitude of service.

THE ORGANISATION

The founder of Vraja Rakshak Dal has constituted a Kendriya Marg Nideshak Mandal. The Mandal is appointing a Vraja Rakshak Prahari in each village. Normally for a population of 500 there will be one
prahari. All these praharis will be given training in Vrindavan or Barsana. In these training camps several reknowned people will share their knowledge and experience with the praharis so that a prahri can work with his full potential.

PRAHARI

Prahari should be an educated, reputed, service oriented, and non-disputed youth. After training, every prahari will make a team in his workplace which will assist him in his work. Every member of the team will be called Vraja Rakshak. Audio cassetes, and useful printed material will be sent to each prahari time to time for his guidance and help. Moreover other reputed members of the Mandal will visit a prahari for monitoring their work and helping them to solve their problems. Tenure of a prahari will depend on the Mandal's discretion. Irresponsible and disobedient persons can be debarred from this responsibility any time.

For implementing the developmental work in the rural areas of Vraja, elderly people of the village will be consulted and their advice would be taken. The strategy of work can be changed from time to time after evaluation of success and problems. Every suggestion and advice will be given due respect but the final decision will be from the Kendriya Marg Nideshak Mandal.
