We are very happy to provide a permanent link to www.4sam.org, a website with information about the four Vaishnava sampradayas.  What are our common interests? What can we do together? The Vishva Vaishnava Raj Sabha has provided communication between Vaishnavas of the Gaudiya sampradaya. Srila Prabhupada always showed great respect for all the founder acharyas of the four sampradayas. And his mentor, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur, was very keen to provide a common ground for all Vaishnavas to serve the need of humanity. Since all Vaishnava sampradayas emphasize the existence of a personal God, they are naturally very important to counteract the influence of atheism. And since all of them promote vegetarianism they are also very important to show to the world the importance of the non-aggressive attitude towards animals for overall peace and well-fare. And all Vaishnava sampradayas are grateful towards the Vedic literatures and are very eager to counteract to horrible British propaganda which has spread all over the world, misinforming the general public about the history and validity of the Vedic culture. VINA welcomes very much the work done by 4sam.org. Because it is necessary to increase the friendly contacts and the information about the four sampradayas, specifically since the Internet is the new communication forum and the world still knows very little about the Indian theistic tradition. Generally in the western world people have two concepts about India:

  1. They have many Gods but no real God to worship. This vision was promoted by the British.

  2. They do not believe in any God. And that they believe that the highest and final destination is the light or some cosmic consciousness where all individuals cease to exist. This is a concept of sophisticated atheism which is promoted by many modern yogis who are essentially impersonalists. They cannot accept that there is Somebody higher than them, Who has created them and Who is maintaining them and to Whom all beings owe allegiance.

Thus the people in the world are misinformed and they do not know that the Vedic tradition teaches about the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Who can manifest in many ways but He is still one Supreme Lord. Even the all-pervading impersonal energy which comes from Him is part of His opulence.

4sam.org provides a joint platform where every sampradaya can tell about their history of divine theology so that the whole world can know that the teachings of the Supreme Lord, the original Creator is coming straight from the Vedas, the oldest literature human beings have discovered, and which are still providing support for a religious living tradition.

We appreciate that we can report about the four sampradayas to our readers through this new website. Some of these sampradayas have temples running in India for more than a thousand years. And 700 years of Muslim and British colonialism have not been able to stop the living tradition of the Vedas. On the contrary, now the desire for rectification is becoming more strong every day. And historical evidences proving that the Vedic scriptures also provide accurate historical information is appearing. Naturally once this wrong propaganda has been rectified and the people in the world understand that Sanskrit and Vedic philosophy is actually the root of most known cultures in the world today, it should be expected that the intelligentsia of those countries will pay full attention to take advantage of the lost wisdom for their overall evolution.

  Hare Krishna.
The 4sam.org website is very good idea. We need all Vaishnavs to bond together and fight maya.
However, i think that to blame the British is incorrect. The reason why the British made ugly propaganda against Hinduism was because we Hindus were so disunited that we could not present the Hindu/Vaishnav philosophy properly to them. There was/is so much rubbish in the name of vedas and Indian religion that the British just took what they were told and presented it as such. Eg. the Shiva-lingam is the genital of Shiv - if you were a British person from Victorian times and you were told that the Indians worship a genital, what would you think? It sounds both silly and disgusting if it is not presented properly.

Even now BBC news likes to show Hindu culture as backwards and strange - Hindus are to blame, not British. if the Hindus pulled themselves together and presented things philosophically to the rest of teh world then perhaps Indian culture and religion would look better from the global perspective.
