| "Hindu Society has been suffering a sustained attack from Islam since the 7th century, from Christianity since the 15th century, and this century also from Marxism. The avowed objective of each of these three world-conquering movements, with their massive resources, is the replacement of Hinduism by their own ideology, or in effect: the destruction of Hinduism. "This concern is not at all paranoid (as the spokespersons of these aggressors would say), even if the conversion squads are remarkably unsuccessful in India. Consider the situation in Africa: in 1900, 50 % of all Africans practiced Pagan religion; today Christian and Islamic missionaries have reduced this number to less than 10 %. That is the kind of threat Hinduism is up against." Koenraad Elst, Belgian Indologist |

| here is another interesting quote (source: www.hinduwisdom.com): Dr. Arnold Joseph Toynbee (1889-1975) the great British historian. His massive research was published in 12 volumes between 1934 and 1961 as `A Study of History'. Author of several books, including Christianity: Among the Religions of the World and One World and India. Toynbee was a major interpreter of human civilization in the 20th century. "It is already becoming clear that a chapter which had a Western beginning will have to have an Indian ending if it is not to end in self-destruction of the human race. At this supremely dangerous moment in human history , the only way of salvation is the ancient Hindu way. Here we have the attitude and spirit that can make it possible for the human race to grow together in to a single family." The tolerance of Hinduism was recognized by Toynbee, who on many occasions contrasted the exclusivity of the Jewish religion, based on the Jewish belief that the Jews are the chosen people with the large tolerance of the Hindus and Buddhist. This plague of exclusiveness, he claims, was inherited by both the Christians and Muslims: hence their lamentable record. (source: Concordant Discord - By R. C. Zaehner p 22-23). “So now we turn to India. This spiritual gift, that makes a man human, is still alive in Indian souls. Go on giving the world Indian examples of it. Nothing else can do so much to help mankind to save itself from destruction.” |

| There is so much that can be said about tv and consumer materialism - and India's recent economic growth. "...but India's spiritual tradition could not be destroyed until today because purity is there, saints are there to protect the sanatan dharma. We can only pray to the pure saints and Krishna to protect us from these strong influences, ..." If we consider that these things are something to do with the effect of kaliyuga, then the basis of any remedial actions we take must be harinam sankirtan. Whether it is feeding schemes to counteract Christian missionary activity, or restoration of holy sites, sankirtan should be there in the program as well. PS: By sankirtan I mean harinam sankirtan, not book distribution. |

So the propaganda machine is controlled by people with a huge amount of wealth (gold) and we all agree that what television and print media is selling to us is often worse than gambling, intoxication and prostitution. i found an interesting talk about media control by noam chomsky, who said that "propaganda is to democracy what the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state" http://www.zmag.org/chomsky/talks/9103-media-control.html |

During the last 60 years of independence more Hindus have abandoned their spiritual values than during twelve centuries of foreign rule (forced conversions do not count). It would be foolish to think that this is happening by chance.
