Kaliya Ghat

This is the place where Krishna climbed to a high branch of this Keli-Kadamba tree, tied His pitambara around His waist and jumped into the Yamuna to subdue the Kaliya serpent. When Sri Krishna reached the riverbank after subduing Kaliya, Brajaraja Nanda and Brajesvari Sri Yasoda soaked Him with their tears, and very carefully and thoroughly examined His body. They wondered, "Has our lala been hurt anywhere?" Here, Maharaja Nanda donated many cows to the brahmanas for Krishna's welfare. This Ghat is also called Kaliya Daha and this tree is known as Keli-Kadamba, because Krishna performed a pastime (keli) here. Adjacent to this Keli-Kadamba is the bhajana-kutir and samadhi of Sri Prabodhananda Sarasvati and nearby on the bank of Kaliya Daha is Srila Bilvamangala Thakur's place of bhajana.
