Dear readers:

This is a message from Vrinda Kunja, the temple of Sri Sri Radha Vraja Mohan, which was started by the queen of Manipur more than two-hundred years ago.

We appreciate the move to keep Krishna’s temples closed following the examples of other temples to protest the attempt of the UP government to merge the town of Vrindavan into a suburb of Mathura.

For thirty years, since Sewak Charanji and others started the environmental movement of Vrindavan they demanded a green belt for the city and protection from the sound pollution, water pollution, soil pollution and so many other things necessary for pilgrimage to the city. Every day and every year more people arrive in Vrindavan, further adding to the environmental stress of the region.

The response from the government has been almost nil, now this merger adds insult to the injury. The government has not come forward to invite the local temples to be part of the decisions, which define the future of Vrindavan and the entire Braj Mandal. Just look, organizations, such as ISKCON, Akshaya Patra, Prem Mandir or Sriji Mandir in Varsana have such a financial potential that they alone could fix many of the problems. But they are not invited to work together with the government. Rather the Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) and the government from Lucknow, act without consulting, without even basic plans, like this silly half moon bridge they were planning around Keshi Ghat.

They have wasted crores of Rupees and left an ecological disaster behind. They totally devastated the Vrindavan skyline, the landmark of Keshi Ghat which has already circled the planet in millions of Facebook accounts and keeps inviting the whole world to come here to see this poor state of administration.

Shame on these bureaucrats! They do not believe in Krishna nor the Bhagavad Gita, nor in the sacredness of the Parikrama done by the faithful Hindus every ekadasi and every full moon. They are just thinking concrete to fill their pockets. We can only pray that Modi ji will bring back sanity and protection for the holiest place of the Vedic Tradition. All appeals to Lucknow and UP Government were not successful.

While Rishikesh and Haridwar were turned into beautiful places who can manage the amount of pilgrims, Vrindavan in Braj Mandal simply has been ignored and abused. Please Hema Malini ji, do something about it! That is why you were put in charge of this. This merger is identity theft of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and His sacred place where He has His pastimes. Now the local administration just want to strip the sacred place of His name.

By the arrangement of Yoga Maya, King Kamsa was not even allowed to visit Vrindavan, what to speak of taking its identity away. These non-believing politicians should better never come to Vrindavan and Braj Mandal, what to speak about having the right to make administrative decisions over the Braj Mandal. Let them spend their time with mundane issues or with Carl Marx if they think they are more important than the teachings of the Vedic Rishis.

The greatest Hindu treasure is the Bhagavad-gita and all the Indian cultural contributions in architecture, music, bhavas, ragas, talas and dances, they are based on the pastimes of Krishna in Vrindavan and from there the word bha-ra-ta was derived. Bharata Ma is termed so because it hosts Krishna Lila in its heart of hearts and the Mahabharata also confirms that fact.

Stop this non-sense now! Give Vrindavan the status of a World Heritage Site and look after it like the crown jewel of India which you should like to share with the rest of the world to elevate their spirit. And whether you recognize it or not, Vrindavan already has world heritage status because people love and worship Vrindavan all around the world.

Thousands of places have been named after Vrindavan all around the planet, like New Vrindavan, New Varsana, New Gokula, New Raman Reti, New Nanda Gram, New Sanket, New Prem Sarovar. How many places in the world do you know with the name of York, some little English town? Well, there is one called New York but not thousands. And how many people do pilgrimage to York? Hardly anybody knows where York exists except those who live there. All the while, we have no idea what the is going through the minds of Indian bureaucrats, who cannot see that thousands of international spiritual tourists come to India every year just to visit Vrindavan. Even Tulsi Gabbard, a congresswoman in the United States Congress, just came to visit Vrindavan following the invitation of Narendra Modi ji. She meditated on Shyama Kunda, walked on the bank of the Yamuna and visited sacred shrines such as Imlitala and Radha Vrindavan Chandra.

So, if you don’t do anything about that, you may find yourself in the embarrassing situation of having to see the Lords’ very own temples, constructed by the former kings and holy people of India, will be closed in protest of your actions. The Supreme Lord Himself protesting against elected bureaucrats and their insensitivity.

Despite the mistakes we have made in the past, today we all beg you to give the appropriate status to Vrindavan. Please join our campaign Braj Vrindavan Act Now. You can visit our website very soon for more information (www.vrindavanactnow.com) or read on Vrindavan Today (http://news.vrindavantoday.org) to see how the story unfolds, as we are trying to defend the natural inheritance of each and every Hindu and every resident of Bharatavarsa.

The greatest diamond in the world came from India and was stolen by the British, and so were many of the temple jewels, ending up in the crowns of the European emperors. They also tried to steal the fame and glory of India, its Vedic literature, by paying people to misrepresent what these books are all about, to twist and distort and falsify scriptures and to distribute a wrong impression around the world. Then they imposed on India a secular educational system which holds no regard for the treasure of such simple wisdom as found in the Vedas, such as karmic respectability, the existence of the soul and reincarnation. And for our academic people to be accepted in the world, they had to go along with European conclusions of the truth which were neither beneficial nor true.

Let us defend the living culture of Braj. It is not simply a collection of dead rocks for museums, like the Egyptian culture, where the Europeans also stole many temple obelisks to decorate their European city squares and museums. Hindu culture is alive and capable of touching the hearts of almost everybody of this world, through Yoga or the philosophy of karma and reincarnation, or through the ancient medical wisdom of Ayurveda, or through their literature which happens to be the oldest written scripture in the world. India was writing high philosophical texts on palm leaves while in Europe an alphabet had yet to be utilized. Because that alphabet also comes from India and as does the number zero. Without the concept of the zero, no computer digitization is possible.

But for Krishna, the Lord of Vrindavan, all these things are just side issues. He only cares for the love of His devotees, and we should do for our spiritual progress what the Lord and His devotees consider the best. If you ask them, they will tell you what they think about this town merger and so many wrong decisions which have being made to disturb the sacred region of Braj Mandal. We all can do it together and we can even restore many of the old jewels.

Thank you for reading this commentary.
